On Wednesday Morning The Continental Village Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on Sprout Brook Road for a Reported Kitchen Fire. Once on scene firefighters found a small fire in the kitchen that had started in the microwave and spread to the cabinets above and next to it. Firefighters quickly extinguish the fire and opened up the area around it to make sure it did not extend into the walls and ceiling. The bulk of the fire was knocked down by a Putnam County Medic with a fire extinguisher who happened to be driving by the house when the call was dispatched. Units operated on the scene for approximately 2 hours and were assisted on scene by the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team and Firefighters from Putnam Valley and Buchanan Fire Departments.
