August 18, 2014

On Monday morning at around 7:30 the Continental Village, and Garrison Fire Departments and Peekskill Ambulance were dispatched to the Annsville Circle for a report of a Tractor Trailer Rollover. Upon arrival it was discovered that the accident was actually on route 9 just south of the circle in the City of Peekskill. The Peekskill fire department was then notified and they responded as well. It was discovered that a tractor trailer carrying wood was traveling north on route 9 and rolled over on the turn leading to the route 9,bear mountain parkway intersection coming to rest on top of the jersey barrier. The tractor trailer spilled its load across the south bound lane effetely closing down all lanes of traffic both north and south bound. While driver was uninjured and was able to climb out, the tractor trailer was found to be leaking hydraulic fluid from its saddle tanks so firefighters went to work to contain the spill. Fire units returned to service at around 1pm after the truck was removed from the roadway.
