In the late afternoon on Sunday the Continental Village Fire Department as well as Garrison Fire and Ambulance were dispatched to a report or a possible structure fire. However, on arrival units discovered that a large tree had split in two, one half falling on a driveway and power lines, and the other half falling on an occupied house. Firefighters made sure all occupants were out of both houses and checked for major structural damage or fire. Power was shut down and crews from Central Hudson moved the down power lines out of the roadway. Firefighters cleared the scene at around 5:30pm
