On Monday night the Continental Village Fire Department was dispatched for a reported Kitchen fire at a two story residence on Carolyn Drive. The first unit arrived on scene to heavy smoke coming from the structure and quickly requested a 10-75 (working structure fire) assignment. The 10-75 assignment brought Buchanan's Cascade, Peekskill FD FAST, Garrison Tankers, and Peekskill Ambulance to the scene. Upon arrival the the first engine firefighters quickly stretched a handline into the house through the front door and attacked the fire.
A second handline was stretched to the rear of the residence where firefighters ventilated the windows. The hose team was able to quickly extinguish the many body of fire and then firefighters went to work opening the walls and ceiling to check for extension. The fire was confined to the kitchen area with other areas of the house suffering smoke and water damage. Firefighters remained on scene while the Fire Investigation Team confirmed that the fire was caused by a grease fire that spread to the surrounding walls and cabinets.
