On Wednesday night the Continental Village Fire Department was dispatched to the Mobile Gas station on the Route 9 Traffic Circle for a report of a fuel spill. On arrival, 14-1-2 confirmed that approximately 20 gallons of diesel fuel had been spilled from an unattended pump filling a pickup truck. First arriving firefighters were quick to cover the spill area in speedy dry and dammed a nearby catch basin to prevent waterway contamination. After an initial investigation, it was clear that some fuel had entered the catch basin before FD arrival, so the Montrose VA Hazmat team and the DEC were requested to provide assistance.
