On Sunday, 5/21, members from CVFD and Peekskill VAC took part in a joint training at the Buttonwood Preserve, also known as the “Old Campgrounds”.

The drill was used as an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the Preserves terrain to prepare first responders for future emergencies in the area. ATVs were deployed and squads rotated through riding the main trails, surveying notable landmarks and water sources.

In addition, members conducted a joint evolution for patient packaging. The scenario involved packaging a patient onto a backboard and transferring them onto a Stokes basket. Together, our teams worked on securing the patient and simulating an extrication from the wooded area.

This collaborative drill allowed us to strengthen our coordination and mutual aid response with Peekskill VAC while also improving our overall preparedness for handling emergencies in challenging outdoor environments.
