On Sunday evening at approximately 5 PM, the Continental Village and Garrison Fire Departments, along with Garrison Volunteer Ambulance Corps, were dispatched to Route 9 near Morgan Court for a reported motor vehicle accident involving injuries, a fallen tree, and downed telephone poles. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a tree blocking the southbound lane and two telephone poles down. The vehicle involved was found resting on the northbound lane's guardrail. All occupants had exited the vehicle and were treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital by Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, who responded as mutual aid. Firefighters closed Route 9 at Winston Lane and at the Putnam/Westchester County line while waiting for Central Hudson to arrive and take over traffic control. All fire units returned to service at around 9 PM. Route 9 remained closed until approximately 3 PM Monday afternoon while crews replaced the damaged poles and repaired the wires.
