Late Tuesday evening the Continental Village Fire Department was requested to aid the Garrison Fire Company in a serious motorcycle accident on Rt. 9 just north of the Garrison Firehouse. On arrival firefighters found that a man had been riding his motorcycle northbound when, for reasons currently under investigation, he crossed over the centerline of the roadway and slammed into the fuel tank of a tractor trailer traveling southbound. The motorcycle and its driver were thrown further north bound and came to a stop in the middle of the roadway. His injuries were described as critical and included an amputation. The rider was taken to the Garrison firehouse where he was flown out by a STATflight helicopter and taken to Westchester Medical Center. Firefighters contained a fluid spill coming from the fuel tank that was punctured on the tractor trailer.
