Ventilation Drill
Lieutenant Justin Loja, May 23
On Tuesday night, firefighters from CVFD, went over our different types of chainsaws on the trucks, and how to appropriately start them. They also practiced cutting pieces of wood to get a feel for the tool. Members also trained on the roof saw and used a roof simulator to train on making cuts on a roof for ventilation purposes. Joint Hiker Rescue Drill w/ PVAC

On Sunday, 5/21, members from CVFD and Peekskill VAC took part in a joint training at the Buttonwood Preserve, also known as the “Old Campgrounds”.

Ground Ladder Drill

On Tuesday, 5/16, firefighters trained on ground ladders, focusing on various aspects of ladder operations. The session commenced with a review of ladder locations on the apparatus and familiarization with the different types of ladders available. Additionally, firefighters learned ladder terminology and the purpose behind deploying ladders effectively.

Hoseline Advancement Drill

On Tuesday night our probationary firefighters drilled on initial attack hoseline advancement. Firefighters went over taking a crosslay off the engine and flaking it out in preparation for entering a structure. Tree down w/ Wires

On Sunday afternoon, around 2pm, A CVFD officer called in a tree down with wires involved in the area of Highland Drive. Once CVFD was dispatched units closed off the road at Ox Yoke/Highland and Winston/Highland. The poles involved were provided to the dispatching center and Central Hudson was notified.
