Wires Down with Burning
Captain Robert Higgins, March 16
On Thursday morning, the Continental Village Fire Department responded to a report of wires down and a brush fire at Bird Lane. Upon arrival, firefighters found wires touching a tree causing a small fire. Central Hudson cut power to the wire and a tree company removed the tree before firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.... (Full Story & Photos)

MVA With Extrication, Route 9
March 10
On Friday morning the Continental Village & Garrison Fire Departments were duel dispatched to Route 9 in the area of Winston Lane for a 3 vehicle MVA with injuries and one driver pinned in his vehicle. Upon arrival firefighters from both departments went to work removing both doors and the B post on the drivers side to remove the injured operator. Forcible Entry Drill
Lieutenant Justin Loja, February 28
On Tuesday night, 2/28, Firefighter's trained on Forcible Entry techniques on both Inward and Outdoor swinging doors. Firefighters were shown a demonstration on the correct steps and different strategies to take when forcing a door. Firefighter's then paired into groups and took turns on forcing the door simulator and switching between each tool.

Brush Fire - Cortlandt Lake

On Monday afternoon, the Continental Village Fire Department was dispatched to an odor of smoke in the proximity of Schuyler and Stuben. On arrival, 14-1-1 reported a 120' x 15' Brush Fire along the shoreline of Cortlandt Lake. 14-3-1 (Brush Truck) was requested to the scene, and a water supply was established with 14-4-1 (Tanker). MVA With Injuries Roa Hook Road
February 10
On Friday morning the Continental Village Fire Department along with Peekskill VAC and Cortlandt Reginal Medics were dispatched to Roa Hook Road at the entrance to Bear Mt Bridge Road for a MVA with injuries. Upon arrival units found a 2 car MVA with 3 people injured so a second Ambulance was requested from Peekskill VAC. Fire units secured power to one of the vehicles as well as cleaned up debris ...
